If you live long enough, it’s easy to point out a time of life or season and identify it as the most difficult time of life. That’s what the last year has been for me. I don’t think I’ll ever be the same again. But the goodness of the Lord has always been there.
- It began with my Mama’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease, already having progressed to the moderate stage. I cannot bear to see her struggle. She’s the most precious to me.
- A couple months later my labs were a train wreck, and I was no longer able to produce my own platelets and white blood cells. We learn this is a condition called MDS cancer or Myelodysplastic Syndrome. It’s a condition caused by years of having been treated with chemotherapy and radiation. Immediately my breast cancer treatment was brought to a halt because of the urgency of the bone marrow treatment.
- Several months ago, I started a bone marrow chemotherapy. Although it’s taken some time, we are starting to see progression with the white blood cells and platelet counts. Praise the Lord!
CURRENT
We are seeing platelets increase in great numbers, and my white blood cells are taking time to increase. The doctor ordered a bone marrow biopsy to determine what is going on in my body. She is encouraged by my progress. I will have that biopsy November 14.
THANK YOU
I cannot begin to thank you for your prayers, most of all. They are sustaining us. We have a lifelong journey to go. So many of you chose to check on us regularly, and we feel so loved. Thank you for the cards and gifts that are sustaining us. The meals mean so much to us. We know the Lord is using you to care for us.
DOCTOR’S ORDERS
In light of my low immunity, my oncologist does not want any visitors to our home.
HELPING FROM AFAR
Many of you have asked how you can still help. Most of all, pray for us. Door Dash, Uber Eats, and cards would be helpful. We still have our GoFundMe in progress if you would like to donate to help with meals and everyday expenses. Your generosity means everything to me.
