Update on behalf of Melissa

Hello, this is Pastor Matt Tipton posting on Melissa’s behalf.

Over the weekend, Melissa called to let me know that she was being released from the hospital and would not be receiving further treatment. She was going home under hospice care.

Some of my children and I arrived in New Orleans yesterday to spend some time with her and to see how we can help. Melissa has asked me to share an update with her friends and family.

When I opened her iPad, we realized that MANY of you have reached out through texts and social media the last 2-3 days hoping for an update but haven’t received a response. Please know that Melissa has reached a point in her health journey where reading messages and posts—and responding to them—is no longer possible. She is deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and concern for her.

Most importantly, she wants everyone to know that she is eagerly anticipating seeing Jesus.

Even since the weekend, Melissa’s condition has worsened considerably. When she called me Saturday, she sounded like her normal self on the phone. Now she is very tired, struggling to find words, and finding it difficult to be out of bed.

Please pray for Melissa and for Ms Janie over the coming days—for comfort, strength, peace, and a deep sense of God’s presence.

If there is one thing Melissa wants everyone to know, it is this: she is confident in her Savior and King, Jesus. She knows where her hope is, and she knows where she is going.

I also know that those who love Melissa and Janie will naturally be concerned about Ms Janie and her care in the days ahead. Please know that there is a team of people already working together to make sure she is cared for moving forward.

If you have questions, you are welcome to message me through my account on FB or through Melissa’s FB account.

Thank you for loving Melissa and Janie so well. Above all, please keep praying.
