This is Pastor Matt Tipton posting on behalf of Melissa’s family.
A little after 4:30 this afternoon, Melissa Moskau died peacefully, surrounded by people who love her.
Earlier this morning, Melissa was able to have a few visitors. She received words of encouragement, listened to worship music, and even enjoyed a couple of sips of iced coffee from Chick-fil-A—with a smile. A small group of ladies who love Melissa and her mom, Janie, stayed with them throughout the day.
A hospice nurse visited this morning and shared that Melissa was beginning to transition. She received medication to keep her comfortable and slept for much of the day. As the afternoon went on, her breathing became labored, and her father, Ron, was called in. Melissa and her family were surrounded by people who love them as she peacefully took her final breath.
There is deep sadness today. We grieve because we love Melissa and will miss her terribly. But we do not grieve without hope.
Melissa’s eternal HOPE has become SIGHT.
The Jesus she trusted, loved, worshiped, and fearlessly proclaimed—especially throughout these last few difficult years—she now sees face to face.
Melissa did not hide her hope in Jesus through her suffering. She proclaimed Him fiercely. Again and again, she wanted people to know that her confidence was not in her circumstances, her health, or what tomorrow might bring. Her confidence was in her Savior and King, Jesus. That confidence remained to the very end.
The faith that sustained her through suffering has now given way to sight. She is experiencing the perfect love, joy, and peace of Christ in a way we can only imagine.
Please continue to pray especially for Melissa’s mom, Janie, for her father, Ron, and for her other family members and close friends as they grieve and begin walking through the days ahead.
We will share information about arrangements as soon as those details are available.
For now, we grieve. We give thanks to God for Melissa’s life and testimony. And we rejoice that the hope she held onto—and proclaimed so boldly—is now the reality she sees.
